A worn cedar deck was replaced with Trex composite decking, installed with hidden fasteners and a crisp picture-frame border, creating a clean, low-maintenance deck beside one of the most beautiful views we have had the opportunity to build around.

The original cedar deck had reached the point where the homeowners were ready to replace it. The location was already special, with a broad view across the surrounding forest and mountains, so the goal was to build a new deck that felt simple and refined without distracting from the setting.
The homeowner wanted a seamless-looking deck surface with no exposed face screws across the field of the decking. A picture-frame border and hidden fasteners were chosen to give the finished surface clean lines from every angle.

After the old cedar deck was removed, the structure was rebuilt and laid out specifically for the new Trex composite decking. The framing established the finished geometry and gave us the clean perimeter needed for the Trex picture-frame detail.

The Trex composite deck boards were installed with hidden fasteners to create a clean, uninterrupted field, while Trex boards around the perimeter formed the picture-frame border. Keeping the fasteners hidden lets the Trex decking and the geometry of the layout do the visual work.

The Trex field boards were installed with hidden fasteners for a smooth surface without exposed screw heads across the deck.

The perimeter was carefully detailed with a picture-frame layout to give the deck a crisp, intentional finished edge.

The setting made this project especially memorable. With the new deck completed, the homeowners have a beautiful place to sit outside and enjoy an expansive Grants Pass view. They were very happy with the finished result, and this remains one of the most striking deck projects we have built.
